Question 1

What is Origo?

Accepted Answer

Origo is an advanced AI-powered STEM learning platform from Finland. It provides you with step-by-step solutions through its AI-powered hint system, and adapts to your skill level.

Question 2

Who is Origo for?

Accepted Answer

The platform is designed with high school students in mind, helping them study advanced concepts and prepare for exams. It's also a useful tool if you're preparing for university entrance exams, or if you want to deepen your understanding of STEM subjects.

Question 3

How is Origo different from traditional textbooks?

Accepted Answer

Unlike a static textbook, Origo is interactive. Origo's hint system detects where you are in the process, and gives you a nudge in the right direction, without giving you the answer right away. Together with other integrated tools, this helps you avoid fatigue, while keeping the learning process intact.

Question 4

How is Origo different from ChatGPT?

Accepted Answer

Origo is not a chatbot, but a structured learning environment. Exercises are done just like in a real exam or physical workbook, helping you solve them line-by-line.

Question 5

Why choose Origo over a traditional review course?

Accepted Answer

Origo is fully personalized: it identifies your strengths and weaknesses, and helps you focus on what you need to practice most.

Question 6

What digital tools are integrated?

Accepted Answer

The platform uses GeoGebra for modeling functions and Abicus as its scientific calculator. This eliminates the constant tab-switching, and helps you keep your focus on the task at hand.

Question 7

Can I try the service for free?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We offer a free trial period during which you can explore the platform's features and try exercises with no commitment.

Question 8

Does Origo work on mobile?

Accepted Answer

Origo is optimized for computers and tablets, so that writing mathematical formulas and drawing graphs is as smooth as possible. The service doesn't support phones due to the small screen size.

Question 9

What if I need help with an exercise?

Accepted Answer

Our smart hint system is designed exactly for this. You can ask for hints or full solution walkthroughs. If something remains unclear, you can also see the model solution and the explanation of the concepts used.

Question 10

How do I cancel my subscription?

Accepted Answer

You can easily manage your subscription from your account settings. You can cancel anytime, and access remains until the end of your paid period.

Question 11

What does Origo offer an upper-secondary school?

Accepted Answer

Origo brings ready-made courses in advanced and basic mathematics, physics, and chemistry together with teachers' own materials, exercises, and group progress. Teachers can use the courses as they are or add their own exercises.

Question 12

How does Origo support a student during an exercise?

Accepted Answer

Origo examines the student's own solution and gives the next useful hint instead of a ready-made answer. The equation editor, CAS calculator, and graphing tool stay beside the exercise, so solving is not interrupted by switching tools.

Question 13

What can teachers see about student progress?

Accepted Answer

Teachers see completed exercises, hints used, and accumulated mastery in the group view. During a lesson, students appear at the exercise they are currently working on, making it easier to notice who needs help.

Question 14

Can I use my own materials in Origo?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Add a screenshot, worksheet, or PDF and Origo extracts the content into an editable exercise. You review and finish the exercise before sharing it with students.

Question 15

How do teachers and students sign in to Origo?

Accepted Answer

Teachers can sign in with MPASSid, Google, or email. Students using Origo through their school can sign in with MPASSid or join through a teacher's class invitation.

Question 16

Can more than one teacher teach the same group?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A teacher can invite another teacher from the same school to the group. The same content can also be published to several groups, and student results can be exported as a CSV file.

Question 17

Can we try Origo before the school decides to purchase it?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A school can request a 30-minute demonstration of the teacher view and arrange a one-group pilot.

Question 18

How does Origo handle school and student data?

Accepted Answer

AI providers receive the mathematical content needed to produce guidance and a pseudonymous technical user identifier for usage monitoring. Origo does not include the student's name or email address in the request. The current list of subprocessors and data-transfer safeguards is available in the data processing agreement.
